Jurong East Station

Mak's Noodle

Hong Kong's famous wanton noodles, Mak's Noodle now has two outlets in Singapore so you can enjoy a HK-style meal without having to go all the way to HK! 📍 : Westgate, 3 Gateway Drive #02-06 (another outlet is at 176 Orchard Road, Centrepoint #01-63/64)

🚊: Jurong East Station Exit A/C

📷: (from L to R) Wanton in Soup, Tossed Noodle with Shrimp Roe & Oyster Sauce, Dumpling in Soup, Tossed Noodle with Chutney Pork (total cost was ~$30) 📝: The wantons were definitely the highlight of the meal. The wanton skin was thin and managed to hold the prawn filling well; when you bite into the wanton, the smooth wanton skin literally slided down our throats and was gone before we knew it. The dumplings had the same smooth skin as the wantons, and both the broth for the wantons and dumplings were clear, but had a savoury and sweet taste, while keeping it light. The noodles were well-cooked and had the QQ + springy texture, and the shrimp roe added a savoury flavour to the noodles, as did the chutney pork. However, do have the noodles while they are still hot as it may tend to turn clumpy after a period of time.

Buona Vista Station

Rollie Olie

Another sushi place that serves freshly made sushi rolls as SHIOK as Shiokmaki too! They also have other creations such as salads. 📍: The Star Vista #02-05 🚊: Buona Vista Station Exit C 📷: Sunkissed Salmon (priced $16.95) 📝: To add more flavour to your sushi rolls, you can choose from a range of sauces at the side counter. My personal favourite was the curry mayo. If The Star Vista is too far for you, they have another outlet at Pasarbella Suntec City Mall #01-K42!

Redhill Station

Boufe Boutique Cafe

Its name is a combination of "boutique" and "cafe", so you can expect to find both when you visit this place! Its minimalistic theme (think simple, sleek, white with good lighting) makes it a good choice for dining, taking photos and any events you may have in mind - birthday parties, corporate events etc. 📍 : 308 Tanglin Road (inside Phoenix Park) 🚊: Redhill Station Exit A --> Take bus 132 from 'opp Redhill Stn' [10201] to 'Opp Chatsworth Rd' [13031] 📷: Eggs Benedict (priced $16), Smoked Salmon Croissant (priced $19), Brioche French Toast (priced $19) and Eggs Florentine (priced $18) 📝: The poached eggs were really well done and the homemade brioche was both soft and fragrant. The Eggs Benedict is a classic dish, and it is definitely one worth trying here. The Brioche French Toast came with toppings such as fresh berries and caramelised banana, which was a welcoming difference from the usual french toast that simply came drizzled with maple syrup. The buttery croissant was cut into small pieces, which made it easy to savour each piece with the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, and the serving of smoked salmon was very generous for both the Eggs Florentine and Smoked Salmon Croissant as well! Overall, the food was really to our liking, and the ambience was really nice too. The only downside is that the location is rather hard to get to, unless you are driving here.

Tiong Bahru Station

1. Dessert Project

Jumping on the bandwagon of shibuya toasts, Dessert Project could be the next After You in Singapore so you do not have to go all the way to Bangkok to have your shibuya toasts fix. 📍 : 22 Havelock Road 🚊: Tiong Bahru Station Exit B (10-15 min walk) 📷: Nutella Toast (priced $14.90) 📝: The melted butter toast was so sinful with the ferrero ice cream that you will feel guilty for the calories but you cannot stop because the ice cream just goes so well with the toast like hot & cold combi. If you are too full for toasts, do try their special ice cream flavours like Parma ham with melon, white rabbit candy and white truffle that cannot be found elsewhere.

2. Cream & Custard

Tucked away in a neighbourhood near Tiong Bahru Plaza, Cream & Custard offers interesting cakes such as a🍓+ 🍉 one. 📍: Block 46 Jalan Bukit Ho Swee #01-894 🚊: Tiong Bahru Station Exit B (about 5 to 10 minutes walk) 📷: Strawberry Watermelon Cake and Thai Milk Tea Tart (priced $7.80 and $9.80 respectively) 📝: The thai milk tea tart was our favourite between the two, for both the gooey thai milk tea spread and the vanilla ice cream that was atop the tart😋 it was rich in the thai milk tea taste as well! The signature strawberry watermelon cake didn't quite live up to our expectations, but we later found out that the cake had no added sugar, because the only source of (natural) sugar was from the watermelon slice in the cake, so a 👍 for that! (those who do not want to feel guilty about the calories should go for this😉) The watermelon slice was still crunchy though it might have been better if the cake was served chilled. We tried their oozy baked eggs (priced $15.80) as well - it was yummy with the flaky and buttery croissant + the slightly spicy tomato sauce mixed with eggs, mozzarella cheese and other ingredients like mushrooms, but we felt that it was rather pricey for a primarily eggs dish.

3. Sin Lee Foods

Meals should be SINful (pun intended) to make your calories count 😉 📍: Block 4 Jalan Bukit Ho Swee #01-164 🚊: Tiong Bahru Station Exit B (5-10 min walk) 📷: Aburi Broccoli Salad (priced $13), Skillet Kimchi Pork Chop (priced $23), Salted Egg Sweet Potato Fries (priced $12), Passion Iced Tea and Raspberry Iced Tea (priced $6 each) 📝: The aburi broccoli salad caught us by surprise as the broccoli leaves were crunchy but the stalk still remained soft. The salad made broccoli a yummy snack rather than a boring vegetable so even non-veggie lovers cannot resist it haha. The aburi broccoli had a slight salty taste and we especially liked pairing them with the red sugar for a crunchier and sugary texture. The pork chop was marinated well with the kimchi flavour. The only regret was that the pork chop was more on the tougher side. Although the sweet potato fries were a little greasy, the salted egg sauce was thick and flavourful which resembled those that we have at the zi char stalls:) Our fruit teas were made in-house and they were a refreshing change to all the food we had.

4. The Bakery Chef

Any food that flows get our saliva flowing too😋 📍: 161 Bukit Merah Central #01-3711 🚊: Tiong Bahru Station Exit A --> Take bus 5/16/851 from 'Opp Tiong Bahru Plaza' [10161] to Bukit Merah Bus Interchange --> Walk along Bukit Merah Central (opp the multi-storey carpark) towards the post office --> Cross the road and turn right at the post office junction 📷: Charcoal Toast with Matcha Salted Egg Lava and Vanilla Ice Cream (priced $12.80) 📝: The ultimate combination of salted egg yolk and matcha was THE BOMB if you are both a salted egg yolk & matcha lover! The charcoal toast was crispy and buttery, and when we cut it open, the lava within flowed out (though not as smooth as we thought it to be). The lava had a faint salted egg taste, and we thought it reminded us of plain matcha, albeit salty that's all. We especially liked pairing the toast, with some of the lava and vanilla ice cream for some hot-and-cold goodness 😋

5. Paik's Coffee

Affordable and decent Korean coffee (and other drinks too!)🙋

📍: Tiong Bahru Plaza, 302 Tiong Bahru Road #02-111

🚊: Tiong Bahru Station Exit B

📷: Iced Paik's Original Coffee (priced $3.50)

📝: For a price of $3.50, we thought that it was a really good deal for a considerably big cup of iced coffee that was not overly milky or sweet. The caffeine taste was not overpowering so those who prefer a slight caffeine taste might fancy this for a little perk-me-up, or just to cool down in this hot weather🤗

Outram Park Station

Tanjong Pagar Station

1. Matchaya

A Japanese-style takeaway kiosk opened by a humble, friendly and cute couple that seems like as though you are in Japan😄 Matcha drinks, matcha toast, matcha ice cream pop, houjicha and nama choco drinks...take your pick from the menu here at Matchaya🙌 📍: #01-72 Icon Village, 12 Gopeng Street 🚊: Tanjong Pagar Station Exit A 📷: Matcha Yuzu - cold (priced $4.90), Nama Choco - cold (priced $4.90) and Brûlee Toast - matcha jam (priced $4.50) 📝: Matchaya finally opened its own physical store at Icon Village 🎉🎊 after seeing them only at pop-up events! We were spoilt for choice when we had to order because there were so many things we wanted to try!! In the end we went for a matcha toast and two drinks: matcha yuzu and nama choco 😋 they were so good! The matcha yuzu had a refreshing taste but we would love it more if the matcha taste was a little stronger as it tasted a little weak if you are a matcha lover. The slightly bittersweet nama choco was really rich, smooth and balanced out the matcha toast (which was a little on the sweet side). For the matcha toast, it was something we definitely loved. Think freshly buttered toast with Matchaya's homemade matcha jam, topped with a slightly charred sugar layer that is torched just before serving. Crunchy and sweet...Mmm...What's best is that Matchaya source their green tea powder directly from Kyoto so the prices of their drinks and desserts are lower than their competitors. Definitely looking forward to going back and trying more of their other drinks and desserts 😄

2. Churn Creamery

Grrr...Erm that's probably your stomach CHURN-ing for ice cream😝 📍: 124 Tanjong Pagar Road 🚊: Tanjong Pagar Station Exit A 📷: Single scoops of Bailey's Milo and Speculoos ice cream in puffones (priced $6.30 each) 📝: Churn Creamery took over the space that was previously Restore Living Cafe. Not your typical ice cream cone where the puffone is similar to croissant where the pastry is flaky and crispy with luscious chocolate filling inside 😋 The puff pastry was fragrant and it was a new and refreshing combination with ice cream:) What I love best was that even though my ice cream was finishing, my cone still had chocolate for me to munch on so your sinful food journey does not end HAHA Maybe Churn Creamery could come up with other flavours of puffones like with cinnamon powder too! However do be prepared for some messiness on the table as the pastry was flaky haha if not will be back again for some ice cream fix with these puffones☺

3. Ninja Bowl

Ever dream of becoming a ninja? Now you can become one with food 😝 Ninja Bowl will definitely make you ninja your way back here for their food! 📍: 15 Duxton Road 🚊: Tanjong Pagar Station Exit A 📷: Fancy French (priced $16), Genki Ninja Bowl with Ninja Rice (priced $18), Kabuki Ninja Bowl with Ninja Rice (priced $16) and Coconut Lemon Mint (priced $8) 📝: Ninja Bowl took over the space that was previously Department of Caffeine. The Fancy French was not the typical French toast dish with berries and maple syrup. It was a thick brioche toast that was fluffy and soft on the inside and accompanied with figs, plums and green grapes. The whole toast was really DELICIOUS as I kept eating and wanting more as the combination of the fruits, toast and their homemade fig sauce went really well together unlike the typical French toast that you will get sick of the taste after a while. Ninja Bowl's speciality is their healthy rice bowls that comes with the runny onsen egg:) Genki is yaki unagi, roasted pumpkin, korean beansprouts and pickled beets while Kabuki is seared honey chicken leg, baby corn, pickled beets and korean beansprouts. Ninja Bowl does their rice bowls deliciously, making healthy eating tastier! The coconut lemon mint came in a large glass with chunky pieces of fresh coconut. It proves itself to be a refreshing drink especially on hot weathers. What I love best is that all prices are NETT means no service charge and GST yay to smaller holes burnt in our pockets! 😁

4. May May

The Liu Sha craze is still not dead yet! Introducing to you May May's photogenic Liu Sha donuts:) 📍 : 65 Tras Street 🚊: Tanjong Pagar Station Exit A 📷: Liu Sha Custard Donut (priced $7) and Butter Poached Cod Rice Bowl (priced $18) 📝: The donuts were made fresh upon order. They were fluffy and soft in the inside with the Liu Sha oozing out as you bite into them. The only part which I thought could be better was that the donut could be less sweet as the Liu Sha ended tasting sweet instead of the usual salted egg yolk taste. Do try their rice bowls like the butter poached cod too! It contains wakame, oven roasted tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, pickled lotus root, wasabi sprouts, soft centred egg. Definitely a nutritious and delicious rice bowl to have except for the slightly heavier price tag haha.

5. Mavrx Coffee Apothecary

We know how it feels after a long New Year holiday to get back to work again😭 So here is a place for you to get your caffeine fuel to chase away tomorrow Monday blues because you won't want to get depresso. 📍 : 1A Duxton Hill 🚊: Tanjong Pagar Station Exit A 📷: Coffee - White (priced $5.00) 📝: White is double shots + milk. The coffee was balanced with the right amount of acidity and aftertaste. The detailed beautiful latte art showcases the experienced skills of the barista. I personally love the phrases on their takeaway cups. Not forgetting the coffee-themed poker cards and tic tac toe sheet which are great props for your insta photo-taking. Do check their fb/Instagram on the availability of their piccolo-sized coffee served in a waffle cup.

6. Xiao Ya Tou

Brunch items with a modern Asian twist! 📍: 6 Duxton Hill 🚊: Tanjong Pagar Station Exit A 📷: Unagi Benedict (priced $23) 📝: Once you step into Xiao Ya Tou, it feels like the olden days with all the old-school posters and deco around. The unagi benedict was a twist on the usual egg benedict - grilled eel and poached eggs atop fried man tou😋 it was delicious but got jelak after a while, maybe due to the fried man tou that was still rather oily, or the unagi which was a little heavy on the taste. Also, if you order any main, it comes with a free soup and fried man tou, which could be the reason why I felt like I ate too many fried man tous that day😅😥

7. Cake Spade

Kate (Cake) Spade? This might not be the one with pretty bags and clothes, but it sure has yummy cakes and desserts for a relaxing chowing session💆 📍: 83 Tanjong Pagar Road 🚊: Tanjong Pagar Station Exit A (look out for the pink/white building!) 📷: Peach tofu cheesecake and Dark chocolate banana cake (priced $6.50 and $6.80 respectively) 📝: I loved the peach tofu cheesecake; it was light and the peaches encased in the jelly were refreshing. The slightly crunchy digestive biscuit crust at the bottom went well with the tofu cheesecake which was soft and smooth. While the dark chocolate banana cake was a little dry, the tastes of the chocolate and banana balanced each other well.

Raffles Place Station & City Hall Station

Head to our "Guide To Food Along North South MRT Line" under the section for Raffles Place Station and City Hall Station:)

Bugis Station

1. Brother Bird

Brother Bird (opened by the folks behind Stateland Cafe) offers softserves and chewy mochi donut balls. 📍: 30 Bali Lane 🚊: Bugis Station Exit B (a short distance away from Raffles Hospital) 📷: Earl Grey Bursts - earl grey donuts with cookie butter softserve and almond crunch (priced $15) 📝: The mochi donut balls were amazeballs (couldn't help the pun, sorry😂). Warm chocolatey goodness flowed out when the earl grey mochi donut balls were cut. The chocolatey lava tasted slightly citrusy (maybe yuzu?) and was not overly sweet. What puzzled us was the addition of popcorn to the softserve. The almond crunch went well with the softserve (which was really good too), but the popcorn was just soft and meh.

2. Hyde & Co

The perfect place to bring your date to💕 Similar to a British English Tea Room, Hyde & Co provides a comfortable ambience with natural lightning, giving off the English countryside charm with their English teapots and plates and potted plants. Another minimalist insta-worthy cafe to add to your list! 📍 : 785 North Bridge Road 🚊: Bugis Station Exit B. ~10 min walk from Bugis station. Walk along North Bridge Road to destination. 📷: Left - My Fair Lady (priced $7.50) Right - The Addams Family (priced $7.50) 📝: Hyde & Co has a wide selection of teas where their tea concoction sets themselves apart from other cafes. My Fair Lady was iced Earl Grey tea blended with calendula flowers, hibiscus, sunflower blossoms and rose petals infused with milk. The first sip was literally heaven and earth where the combination of floral and tea was well-balanced and soothing for the soul especially for Earl Grey tea lovers. On the other hand, The Addams Family is a refreshing and light tea with apples. I especially love the sugar crystals at the side of the glass which made the tea sweeter due to the slightly sour green apples inside. Do try their brunch and dinner menu as well:) What's best about this cafe is that there is no GST & service charge so you don't have to worry about cafes burning a hole in your pocket!

3. Symmetry

Symmetry identifies itself as a cafe by day, restaurant bar by night, but all that matters it that it serves good food! You can spot it by its exterior of a white shophouse with bright green doors, and the two rag dolls that sit at the entrance. 📍: 9 Jalan Kubor Road #01-01 🚊: Bugis Station Exit B (walk straight along Victoria Street, in the direction of Lavender Station - about 10 minutes walk) 📷: Saikyo Miso Cod and Mentaiko Carbonara (priced $24)

📝: The linguine was cooked al dente, and each bite was flavourful with mentaiko. The cod tasted very fresh and had a melt-in-the-mouth kind of texture. Their truffle fries (priced $15) are highly recommended as a starter! The fries are not too soggy or crunchy, and with the sprinkle of the black truffle salt and parmesan cheese on top, it makes for an absolutely yummy treat. While $15 might be pricey for truffle fries, it is definitely worth the money as the serving is very generous, and each and every fry is infused with the aromatic truffle taste.

4. All Things Delicious

And...all things delicious at this little halal eatery tucked away in the streets of Bugis😉 📍: 34 Arab Street 🚊: Bugis Station Exit B (approximately a 10-minute walk) 📷: Salted Chocolate Caramel Cake & Sticky Toffee Pudding (priced $7.90 and $6.90 respectively) 📝: Out of the two desserts we had, the sticky toffee pudding won our hearts🤗 Drenched in a generous amount of toffee sauce, the moist cake nearly melted in our mouths with every bite. The salted chocolate caramel cake had a primarily chocolate taste, with a faint hint of salted caramel, however the cake was a little too dry for our liking.

5. Stateland Cafe

Under the same family as Brother Bird, Stateland Cafe offers a menu which consists of rather uncommon fusion dishes. 📍: 32 Bali Lane 🚊: Bugis Station Exit B (a short distance away from Raffles Hospital) 📷: Mentaiko Aglio Olio (priced $25 with a drink of your choice on weekends) 📝: The mains at Stateland Cafe tend to be on the pricier side, so their set lunch/brunch where any main with a drink of your choice costs $20 on weekdays and $25 on weekends make it more worthwhile! Mentaiko with aglio olio, nothing can go wrong😋 (note to non-spicy eaters: the dish wasn't too spicy!) I loved the creamy and savoury taste of the dish, with a pretty generous number of prawns thrown in to accompany the pasta.

Lavender Station

Bao Makers

Baos with an innovative twist, offering flavours both old and new such as the classic 扣肉包 (braised pork buns) and salted egg shrimp. 📍 : 78 Horne Road 🚊: Lavender Station Exit B 📷: Salted Egg Shrimp and Nanban Chicken (priced $5.80 and $5.30 respectively) 📝: The two baos we had were the traditional white steamed baos, and were soft and fluffy. The salted egg sauce was lathered generously and matched well with the fresh shrimps. Nanban Chicken was deep-fried chicken topped with Japanese tartar sauce, and it did not have an oily aftertaste.

Paya Lebar Station

Beauty in the Pot

Diamond is girl's best friend but collagen is everyone's best friend. Who can resist this hot pot that will make u feel once again youthful, energized and maybe even smoother skin. 📍: OneKM Mall #02-21 📷: Beauty Collagen Broth Hotpot (priced $20 per pot) 🚊: Paya Lebar Station Exit A --> Take bus 2/7/13/21/24/40/43/51/67/76/135/154/155/197/853C/NR7 from 'Paya Lebar Stn' [81111] to 'Tanjong Katong Complex' [82119] and cross the traffic light to OneKM Mall 📝: I especially love the taste of the collagen-richness in the soup. You will be able to have refills for your broth. Furthermore, you can customize your own sauce to dip your cooked food in. Not forgetting the rice is self-service and free flow so u can eat as much as u want:) Last but not least, there will be refreshing complimentary rounds of yuzu drink as your after-meal dessert cleanser. Definitely worth the money to pamper yourself once in a while👍🏽

Kembangan Station

Dutch Colony

A cafe for the Easties that specializes in various types of coffee🙆🏻 Dutch Colony is the perfect weekend brunch place with your family & friends:) 📍: 113 Frankel Avenue 🚊: Kembangan Station(10 min walk).

🚌: Take bus 32 from Bedok interchange and alight after you see the Caltex petrol kiosk 📷: The Colonial Toast (priced $15) 📝: The Colonial Toast is French toast with various types of fruit on the platter like caramelized banana, peaches, strawberries, blueberries:) The toast also came with espresso butter which was something special that I have not seen and tried before. However, I felt that the toast was a little dry and maybe more eggs could be added to make it more fragrant and moist:) What I love about Dutch Colony is that all the prices are nett and their service is good even though there's no service charge👍🏽 Do head there early as the cafe is very crowded as most Easties wake up early hahaha

Bedok Station

FATCAT Ice Cream Bar

A hipster cafe in the heartlands that will be on the list of every instagrammer. FatCat takes pride in their desserts where the quality and standard of their desserts and ice cream can match up to fine dining restaurants. 📍: Blk 416 Bedok North Avenue 2 #01-25 🚊: Bedok Station Exit B (8 mins walk) 🚌: Bus 18/225. Alight at bus stop no. B84339 📷: Lime Mojito Spheres (priced $4.50 each) 📝: These spheres may be expensive but u can be guaranteed of a refreshing gastronomic experience. As you pop these spheres and they burst in your mouth, you will be able to taste the flavours and juices of lime Mojito all mixed together which makes u go Mmmm. Do try their salted egg charcoal waffles with their homemade ice cream as well as their other plated deserts which changes everyday. As their gourmet waffles and plated desserts are in limited servings do go there early when the shop opens to avoid disappointment.

With Love,
