Ang Mo Kio Station

1. The Prata Place @ Springleaf

http://www.theprataplace.com.sg/

Eggs Benedict served on a prata - definitely a unique prata dish worth trying. 📍: 1 Thong Soon Avenue 🚊: Ang Mo Kio Station Exit C --> Take bus 169 or 138 at Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange 📷: Plaster Blaster (priced $5) 📝: Think plain prata, with turkey ham, poached egg, hollandaise sauce and a few spring onions to top it off and you have a delicious Eggs Benedict Prata dish. The prata was done really well - crispy on the outside (especially at the edges) and fluffy on the inside. We also had the Umami 50 which was prata stuffed with mayonnaise, chicken luncheon meat, cheese and chicken floss. The mix of the different ingredients together with the prata was great, although the edges got a little jelak due to all the mayonnaise inside. One thing is for sure - their prata is absolutely delicious!

2. 21 CUBE Artisan Ice Cream

Calling out to all S'mores Lovers📡🍫these sinful-looking ice cream cones are just for you! 📍: Blk 710A Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 #01-2631 🚊: Ang Mo Kio Station Exit B > cross the traffic light. (Beside AMK Bus Interchange) 📷: Honey Goldilocks ($6.40) and S'moreos (priced $5.90) 📝: The Honey Goldilocks contains organic honey, graham crumble and honey comb while the S'moreos contains oreo crumble, white chocolate chips and oreos. Both ice cream cones came with vanilla soft serve. The cones were filled with a generous amount of flame-torched marshmallow until the entire top part of the cone was filled. The marshmallow was not overly sweet and it was soft and fragrant however the amount was too generous that we got a little jelak after a while so we recommend sharing instead of getting one to urself 😄 We especially liked their serving style of a plate with a hole in the middle to hold the cone so that we do not have to worry of getting our hands dirty. Do try their fried ice cream rolls which we also did a writeup on in another post below under Somerset station:)

Toa Payoh/Braddell Station

1. Kim Keat Hokkien Mee

Not the typical Hokkien mee served on banana leaf. The good old local hawker food that comforts the soul and makes SG home. 📍 : Toa Payoh Lor 4, Blk 92 #01-264 🚊: Toa Payoh Station Exit D --> Take bus 56/105/153 from Opp Toa Payoh Stn (52181) and alight at Jackson Square/Braddell Station then walk to the place 📷: Claypot Hokkien Mee - 2 pax (priced at $10) 📝: When the claypot arrived on our table, the broth was bubbling with the sinful pork oil screaming at us "Eat me eat me!". The noodle and sauce was cooked well and fragrant. There was quite a bit of seafood inside like clams, prawns and squid which explains the slightly higher priced hokkien mee. I would love it more if the broth could be less salty and more of the broth could have been added as the noodle became dry after a while.

2. Creamier

There are not many homemade ice cream shops but here's one worth the visit! An ice cream parlour that is nestled within the Toa Payoh neighbourhood, it prides itself on its handcrafted ice cream, and the waffles are definitely worth a try too! 📍 : 128 Toa Payoh Lorong 1 #01-835 🚊: Toa Payoh Station, Braddell Station (their website has directions on how to get there) 📷: Waffles with ice cream (priced $8.50) - additional scoop of ice cream priced at $2.50, premium +$0.80. Ice cream flavours: Thai Milk Tea, Earl Grey Lavender, Sea Salt Gula Melaka. 📝: The waffles had crispy edges, and the center was soft and most, while fluffy. When paired with ice cream, the taste is absolutely yummy. The maple syrup and chocolate sauce worked well with the waffles as well. For those who have trouble deciding on their ice cream flavours, you can ask for samples before choosing. However, the seating is rather cramped, and as the cafe is small in size, it is quite difficult to move around, and you may need to squeeze or get up when someone walks past, especially if it is crowded.

Novena Station

1. Waan Cha

WAAN some thai milk CHA? Here's one that you would likely want more of after the first sip:) 📍: 275 Thomson Road Novena Regency #01-45 🚊: Novena Station Exit B then cross the overhead bridge to Novena Regency (5 to 10 minute walk) 📷: Iced Thai Milk Tea and Iced Thai Milk Green Tea (priced $3.30 each) 📝: We tried the 2 regulars that you would find in all thai milk tea stores, and both of them were legit good and tasted similar to those we had in Bangkok! Both milk teas were freshly brewed and made (as seen from the foam on the surface of the drink). They had a fragrant and strong tea aftertaste :) Our personal favourite was the Thai Milk Green Tea as there was a balance between the sweetness and bitterness from the green tea. What we liked was that the sweetness level of the drinks could be adjusted to your liking, and we definitely liked ours at their sweetness level - not overly sweet but not dull until there's barely any tea taste. They had other special drinks such as the Pink Milk which we didn't get to try🌹 will definitely be back again for our milk tea cravings😋

2. Kyushu Pancake

[SG] Fluffy and dense Japanese pancakes that will leave your belly satisfied but not so much for your wallet😂 📍: 275 Thomson Road Novena Regency #01-08 🚊: Novena Station Exit B then cross the overhead bridge to Novena Regency (5 to 10 minute walk) 📷: Matcha MontBlanc (priced $18) 📝: After one bite of the pancakes (which were made from a pancake mix of 7 Kyushu-grown grains), we knew it was not your average pancakes because it made us feel healthy due to the wheat-y texture. The matcha montblanc sauce + matcha mousse were a great combination with the pancakes, although we felt that the matcha taste was more evident than the chestnut taste.

Orchard Station

1. Open Farm Community

This glasshouse cafe will offer u an unforgettable dining and local farming experience. There are also outdoor activities available which are perfect for a weekend family outing. 📍: 130E Minden Road 1. 🚊: Orchard Station Exit B 2. 🚌: From bus stop Opp Orchard Station (B09022), take bus 7, 77, 106, 123, 174. Alight at Opp SG Botanic Gardens/SG Gleneagles Hospital (B13011). Walk along Napier Road towards Holland Road, turn left onto Minden Road. Continue walking straight down and you will see Open Farm Community on your right. 📷: Lemon Tart with Basil Ice-Cream (priced $17) 📝: Most of the food items on their menu are freshly prepared and locally produced. What I liked were the handmade pasta noodles and that vegetables on my plate were harvested directly from their garden. Even their tomato ketchup sauce is house made. Besides, you can be assured of attentive service staff who are knowledgeable in the menu. Do make reservations online as the restaurant is often full house.

2. Benjamin Browns

A cosy bistro located in Orchard, it is known for its Over The Top milkshakes. However, they have a full menu of food and beverage items as well. 📍: The Forum Shopping Mall #01-20/21 🚊: Orchard Station Exit E 📷: Coffee Avocado & Peanut Butter (priced $16++ each) 📝: Personally, the Coffee Avocado was more to my liking. It was a flavourful and lovely blend of the two, and if you are a coffee/avocado lover, chances are you'll love it too!

3. Boufe Boutique Cafe

Its name is a combination of "boutique" and "cafe", so you can expect to find both when you visit this place! Its minimalistic theme (think simple, sleek, white with good lighting) makes it a good choice for dining, taking photos and any events you may have in mind - birthday parties, corporate events etc. 📍 : 308 Tanglin Road (inside Phoenix Park) 🚊: Orchard Station Exit B --> Take 111 from 'opp Orchard Stn' [09022] to 'bef Chatsworth Rd' [13039] 📷: Eggs Benedict (priced $16), Smoked Salmon Croissant (priced $19), Brioche French Toast (priced $19) and Eggs Florentine (priced $18) 📝: The poached eggs were really well done and the homemade brioche was both soft and fragrant. The Eggs Benedict is a classic dish, and it is definitely one worth trying here. The Brioche French Toast came with toppings such as fresh berries and caramelised banana, which was a welcoming difference from the usual french toast that simply came drizzled with maple syrup. The buttery croissant was cut into small pieces, which made it easy to savour each piece with the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, and the serving of smoked salmon was very generous for both the Eggs Florentine and Smoked Salmon Croissant as well! Overall, the food was really to our liking, and the ambience was really nice too. The only downside is that the location is rather hard to get to, unless you are driving here.

4. Godiva

We know Godiva for its chocolate, but do you know it has soft serves as well? Sinfully good with its rich Godiva Belgian Chocolate taste, but served in a cone. 📍: Basement 2, Takashimaya Department Store, 391 Orchard Road 🚊: Orchard Station Exit C/D then walk to Takashimaya via Wisma Atria 📷: A seasonal special of matcha flavour ($9) – the usual soft serve (we ordered a swirl) added with a matcha cookie, and sprinkled with fine matcha powder. The cone was rimmed with chocolate and matcha as well. 📝: They offer three soft serve flavours: Dark Chocolate, White Chocolate Vanilla Bean and Swirl (mix of the previous two). The matcha seasonal special was nothing much special from the usual, with just a faint flavour of matcha, so matcha lovers might be disappointed. Our suggestion? Go for any of the usual three instead! The rich and creamy soft serve melts in your mouth, and the dark chocolate sauce drizzled over the soft serve, paired with the crispy waffle cone that can be rimmed with chocolate and praline almonds - it is definitely not your average soft serve!

5. Susan Chan Food (家乐小厨)

The salted egg yolk craze never dies hahaha so here's another place for your salted egg yolk cravings😎 📍: 4 Scotts Road, Far East Plaza #05-100 🚊: Orchard Station Exit A and walk to Far East Plaza 📷: Salted egg pork chop (priced $12) 📝: Orchard does have good and affordable food places and Susan Chan is one of them:) Personally I felt the salted egg pork chop dish from Susan Chan was better than the one from New Station snack bar (same floor, just a few shops down) as the pork chop was fragrant and the edges of the pork chop were not soggy but still crispy despite the sauce. I especially love that the dish came with a reasonable amount of salted egg yolk gravy that I can have with my plain rice:) Will definitely be back again at Susan Chan for their other zi char dishes!

6. Da Paolo Gastronomia

A croissant and donut hybrid - the crodo. The NYC version is called cronut, but Da Paolo Gastronomia calls their version crodo. 📍: Great World City, 1 Kim Seng Promenade #B1-03/04 🚊: The nearest stations are quite a walk away so getting there by buses is more convenient (B13119 or B13121). There are also free shuttle bus services to and from Orchard, Chinatown and City Hall Stations. 📷: Dark Chocolate Crodo (priced $5.50) 📝: For some reason, I had a sudden craving for cronuts, and I decided to head down to Da Paolo Gastronomia for a try. It was nearly evening by the time I got there, and there was only one crodo left on the display. The flaky and buttery croissant pastry shaped in a donut, together with the not-so-sweet dark chocolate sauce on top greatly satisfied my craving. In between the folds on the inside of the soft pastry, there were chocolate pieces which reminded me of a chocolate croissant. I would definitely want to go back and try its other flavours available. Da Paolo Gastronomia also has other outlets such as Holland Village and Orchard.

7. Bonta Bonta (inside Japan Food Town)

Yum yum in my tum tum at Bonta Bonta in Japan Food Town😋 📍: #04-39 Wisma Atria, 435 Orchard Road 🚊: Orchard Station Exit C/D 📷: 1/2 Unagi Bowl with Onsen Egg (priced $15) 📝: We went looking for onigiri at this place, but were pleasantly surprised when the star of our meal became this unagi rice bowl. The friendly staff recommended the half bowl to us and it was such a good deal! Two pieces of well-seasoned unagi with a dash of white pepper, placed on warm pearly rice and an onsen egg at the side. We especially loved mixing the half-boiled egg into the rice to give the rice more flavour and taste.

8. Venchi

The recent hot weather makes me SCREAM for ICE CREAM🍦 📍: 391A Orchard Road, Takashimaya B2 🚊: Orchard Station Exit C/D (walk through Wisma Atria) 📷: Medium cup - 2 flavours: Hazelnut and Cuor Di Cacao (priced $7.50) 📝: Even though the gelato from Venchi is on the pricier side, I can assure you it will be worth your money👍🏽 The gelato was so smooth, rich and soft that you can taste that only top quality ingredients were used:) To all chocolate lovers, you will definitely love the Cuor Di Cacao as it is made from 75% extra-dark chocolate and it was so thick in its chocolate flavour that it won the heart of mine hahaha. The Hazelnut was very fragrant and it was so addictive that I couldn't stop eating and then I realized the whole cup was empty....happiness is indeed short-lived HAHA

Somerset Station

1. Gyoza-ya

Looking for a restaurant that serves decent and affordable Japanese food in Orchard Area, here's one recommendation for you! 📍 : Robinsons @ Orchard #B1-02A 🚊: Somerset Station Exit B 📷: Cheese Gyoza (priced $7.80), Original Gzoya (priced $4.80) and Mentaiko Gzoya (priced $8.80) 📝: Gyoza-Ya as the name is, is a restaurant that specializes in their meat dumplings. They have a variety of different flavours of gyozas to choose from which we will guarantee that you will be spoilt for choice. The gyozas were pan-fried well with juicy and tender meat filling inside. The melted cheese on the gyozas was heavenly but we recommend eating these gyozas while it's hot as it can be quite jelak when the melted cheese turns cold. Do try their garlic fried rice and mentaiko gyozas too! Gyoza-Ya has another outlet at ION Orchard as well:)

2. I See I See

An icy treat to cool off the sweltering heat in sunny SG! 📍: 313 @ Somerset #B3-46 🚊: Somerset Station Exit B 📷: Strawberry Hokkaido Milk & Earl Grey Pistachio (priced $6.90 each) 📝: With fresh and quality ingredients, you can be assured of the handcrafted goodness in the form of ice pops from I See i See! We really liked the Earl Grey Pistachio which had a strong but not overpowering earl grey taste, and the saltiness of the crushed pistachio balanced the taste nicely. The Strawberry Hokkaido Milk had a milkier taste with the frozen strawberries within. While we enjoyed the ice pops, we felt that the prices were not really pocket-friendly. Nonetheless, they make for a good treat both for the stomach and camera! They melted really quickly in the heat though, so be quick if you want to take some nice shots 😕

3. Hvala Waffle Bar

No need to travel all the way to Hong Kong Oddies Foodies, your Egglet Ice Cream craving can now be satisfied in SG. 📍 : 313 @ Somerset #B3-50 🚊: Somerset Station Exit B 📷: The Puffle (priced $7.90) 📝: The Puffle consists of vanilla bean soft serve and 2 toppings. I personally love the fragrant black sesame sauce as it was an unique sauce that is not available in other yogurt shops. The Egglet waffle was made fresh upon order. The edges of the Egglet were crispy and the insides were soft and fluffy. Will definitely be back to eat again!

4. 21 CUBE Artisan Ice Cream

A little treat for you to recharge before you go back to your daily grind tomorrow:) 📍 : SCAPE Orchard #02-29 🚊: Somerset Station Exit B 📷: Matcha with Kinder Bueno (priced $4.90) 📝: These instant ice cream rolls are customizable according to your preferences so holla you can get to create your one and only type of ice cream! I chose the base flavour to be matcha and mixer as kinder bueno. I love the smooth creamy matcha flavour but for those matcha lovers you will probably feel that the matcha flavour is a little weak. Just pop the entire ice cream roll into your mouth and get ready to be frozen and sing let it go~ Will be back again to try the other flavours and toppings!

5. YiLi PaoPao Ice 以利泡泡冰新加坡站

A Taiwanese dessert chain that serves blended shaved ice, it is a fresh take on the usual plain shaved ice. The shaved ice is smooth and melts in your mouth. 📍: Orchard Central #B2-05 🚊: Somerset Station Exit B/D 📷: Peanut and Oreos (priced $5.60) 📝: They have a list of specials, such as Peanut and Oreos, and Boba Milk and Egg, that you can choose from if you are undecided on the flavours. Alternatively, you can customise your own!

6. Mak's Noodle

Hong Kong's famous wanton noodles, Mak's Noodle now has two outlets in Singapore so you can enjoy a HK-style meal without having to go all the way to HK!

📍 : 176 Orchard Road, Centrepoint #01-63/64 (other outlet is at Westgate, 3 Gateway Drive #02-06)

🚊: Somerset Station Exit B

📷: (from L to R) Wonton in Soup, Tossed Noodle with Shrimp Roe & Oyster Sauce, Dumpling in Soup, Tossed Noodle with Chutney Pork (total cost was ~$30)

📝: The wantons were definitely the highlight of the meal. The wanton skin was thin and managed to hold the prawn filling well; when you bite into the wanton, the smooth wanton skin literally slided down our throats and was gone before we knew it. The dumplings had the same smooth skin as the wantons, and both the broth for the wantons and dumplings were clear, but had a savoury and sweet taste, while keeping it light. The noodles were well-cooked and had the QQ + springy texture, and the shrimp roe added a savoury flavour to the noodles, as did the chutney pork. However, do have the noodles while they are still hot as it may tend to turn clumpy after a period of time.

7. Barrio By Mex Out

Hola! So today we go Mexican! Tacos, burritos, nacho & salsa... invoking a little different tastebuds from your usual meals 📍: 313 Somerset #01-14/15 🚊: Somerset Station Exit B 📷: Chipotle Pulled Pork Tortas (priced $15.90), Fish Tacos - 3 pcs (priced $15.90) and Char Grilled Chicken (spicy) rice bowl (priced $13.40) 📝: The chipotle pulled pork tortas is a Mexican style sandwich served in a buttered brioche bun. The fish tacos contain beer battered sea bass with the lime on the side to give them a zesty taste. The sea bass was fresh and tender which was deliciously wrapped inside the tortillas. The char grilled chicken (spicy) rice bowl had the chicken grilled in seiracha chilli and fire roasted salsa. If you were wondering how does Mexican rice taste like, the Mexican rice tasted similar to our local Malay nasi briyani. Our only disappointment was that the pulled pork and chicken was a little on the dry side but if you would like to try out something different or satisfy your Mexican food cravings do head to Barrio😋

8. Fish & Chicks

Seems like the salted egg yolk fever is still running high in SG😋 Here's Fish & Chicks with the legendary fish & chips that got people queuing for 2 hours but not to worry Fish & Chicks has now opened another outlet in town that might have shorter waiting time than their Ang Mo Kio outlet. 📍: 8 Grange Road, Cathay Cineleisure Orchard #B1-01 (In Koufu) 🚊: Somerset Station Exit B 📷: Best of Both Worlds (priced $13.90) - sides are cheese pasta and fries 📝: As the dish's name suggests, you can expect both of our local flavours Chilli Crab and Salted Egg Yolk sauces in your fish and chips😋 Out of both flavours, we preferred the salted egg yolk sauce more. We would love the dish more if more sauce was given. However, the fish itself was fresh and juicy and the dish was a good fish & chips on its own even without the sauces:)

9. Henri Charpentier (Orchard Central)

French-inspired Japanese desserts😍 📍: 181 Orchard Road, Orchard Central #01-18 🚊: Somerset Station Exit B 📷: Mont Blanc and Lemon Tart (priced $9.60 and $8.00 respectively) 📝: The mont blanc was not overly sweet and I liked the single chestnut atop the smooth chestnut purée which added a nice touch to the dessert. The lemon tart had a slightly fluffy and bouncy meringue and the lemon curd was both tangy and a little sweet 😋 the only complaint would be that the desserts are on the pricier side, but they are worth it (at least in my opinion).

Dhoby Ghaut Station

Head to our "Guide To Food Along North East MRT Line" under the section for Dhoby Ghaut Station:)

City Hall Station

1. Dazzling Cafe

We introduce Dazzling Cafe - a popular dessert chain that hails from Taiwan. 📍 : Capitol Piazza #01-85, 15 Stamford Road 🚊: City Hall Station Exit B 📷: Matcha with Azuki Beans Honey Toast (priced $19.90) 📝: When the toast arrived, we simply could not take our eyes off the pretty dessert, which looked exceptionally enticing due to the lovely white & green patterns that seemed to flow down the toast (and it didn't even melt after 5 to 10 minutes!). The bittersweet taste of matcha matched well with the slightly sweet buttered toast, although the dessert got a little jelak after a while. Bonus points for the staff who offered to cut the toast for us, in order to show us how to start eating the dessert. It turned out that there were toast cubes hidden within, however the crust encasing the toast cubes was super hard, so we gave up trying to eat the crust in the end. Another dish worth trying is their mochi waffles. We had the Strawberry Ice Cream Waffle + mochi (priced $14.90 + $2 for the mochi), which was a yummy mix of the crispy waffle crust and chewy mochi centre. Overall, the dishes at Dazzling Cafe are definitely on the hefty side, but it is worth a try if you want to enjoy some photogenic and delish desserts.

2. Vatos Urban Tacos

A Mexican fusion restaurant from Seoul - get ready for some Korean-Mexican fusion dishes 😋 📍: 36 Beach Road, South Beach Quarter 🚊: City Hall Station Exit A/Esplanade Station Exit F 📷: Kimchi Carnitas Fries (priced $16) 📝: The well-seasoned shoestring fries were topped with a variety of ingredients such as braised pork carnitas, sautéed kimchi, melted cheese, chopped onions, and drizzled with sour cream and Vatos hot sauce. The two sauces mixed together were not too overly spicy, which is good news for people who cannot take food that is too spicy! Its urban tacos such as the Chili Lime Prawns were delicious too, and the tortillas had a moist and slightly chewy taste (not tasting dry or too flaky).

3. Prive @ Chijmes

Privé at Chijmes - a good spot to simply chill and enjoy the view together with good food (preferably during the evening/night to avoid perspiring under the hot sun). 📍: 30 Victoria Street #01-33 🚊: City Hall Station Exit A/B (inside Chijmes) 📷: Ultimate Fish & Chips (priced $23), Pulled Pork Knuckle Panini (priced $22) and Miso Cod Burger (priced $26) 📝: The food certainly didn't disappoint, and both classics like fish & chips and novel dishes like miso cod burger were 👍 The cod tasted fresh and I particularly liked the miso sauce, as it brought a slightly Asian taste to the burger. Our only complain was having to sit outside with the sweltering afternoon heat, because there were no seats inside the cafe, so making reservations might be a good idea.

4. Wolf Burgers (inside Pasarbella at Suntec City)

Pasarbella, the next hipster food place for you and your friends to have your TGIF and weekend chill out! 📍: 3 Temasek Blvd, Suntec City #01-455 🚊: City Hall Station Exit C and walk via City Link to Suntec City/Esplanade Station Exit A 📷: S'mores Fries (priced $8) by Wolf Burgers 📝: Imagine toasted melted marshmallow with crispy fragrant sweet potato fries combi...Mmmm your calories are probably screaming:) The fries were also drizzled with honey and came with honeycomb/cereal bits. I would love the fries more if it was more towards the savory and saltier side as it was a little too sweet. Do try their highly raved burgers as well!

Raffles Place Station

1. Soi 55

The remedy to combat this unbearable heat and weather! 📍 : Golden Shoe Food Centre #02-21 🚊: Raffles Place Station Exit A/B 📷: Bottled Thai Milk Tea (priced $3.90) 📝: My personal favourite Cha-Yen is from Soi 55 as the taste was close to the ones I tried in Bangkok. The milk tea was freshly brewed and made and it had a fragrant and strong tea taste. You can also add in your own toppings like pearls, ruby, sago etc. Do visit their another outlet at The Cathay on level 5 if you would like to bring your favourite Thai drinks and snacks into the movie theatres.

2. Joe & the Juice

Here's Danish lifestyle brand, Joe & The Juice with fun & healthy juices to pair up with your different moods! 📍: 30 Raffles Place, Chevron House #01-35A 🚊: Raffles Place Station Exit B 📷: Stress Down (priced $6.90 for 12oz) 📝: The perfect juice for those who are stressed at work as the name suggests:) Stress Down contains strawberries, apple and ginger which are high in antioxidants and can help u to reduce anxiety! The juice was sweet with bits of strawberries evidently inside. Do try their other juices with funny and catchy names as well! The service staff at Joe & The Juice were very friendly and they provide personalized service:)

3. Froth

Froth has relocated from their premises at BIG Hotel, and their new space is now open! 📍: Ascott Raffles Place (No. 2 Finlayson Green) 🚊: Raffles Place Station Exit I 📷: Cheesy Lobster Sandwich (priced $22.90) 📝: The slipper lobster chunks came in a generous serving as they could be found in every mouthful of the sandwich. The thick bread looked dry but looks can be deceiving, as I loved the buttery and fluffy taste of it :) Drenched in mentai mayo and cheese, and topped off with tobiko, the combination was definitely a yes for me although it did get a little jelak towards the end due to the very rich and creamy flavour from the mentai mayo.

With Love,
